Thirty two inputs

Twenty four mono and four stereo channels make up 32 line inputs, with 24 microphone inputs carrying 48 V phantom power. That is a full band, a choir or a conference panel handled on one surface without submixing.

The MGP24X is the smaller version at 24 line and 16 microphone inputs, weighing 34.2 lbs against 42 lbs here. Everything else between the two is the same.

Where the DSP sits

The signal path is analog. The DSP Hybrid Channel section adds three reverb types and 16 effects, with auto-ducker and auto-leveler functions. Auto-ducker lowers music automatically when a microphone opens, which in a venue or a place of worship removes a job the operator would otherwise do dozens of times a night.

REV-X provides high resolution hall, plate and room reverbs alongside the SPX effects.

Channel processing and preamps

Microphone preamps are Yamaha's discrete Class-A D-PRE type. Each channel carries the X-pressive three-band equaliser and a one-knob compressor, which makes compression usable by an operator during a soundcheck rather than a setting nobody touches.
