Yamaha DBR10 Powered Speakers

The Yamaha DBR10 is a 2-way bi-amplified powered speaker with a 10 inch cone and a 1 inch throat compression driver, 700 W of Class-D power, and a measured maximum SPL of 129 dB at 1 metre. It weighs 10.5 kg.

Power and output

Amplification is Class-D, rated 700 W dynamic, split 500 W to the low frequency driver and 200 W to the high, with 325 W continuous (260 W LF, 65 W HF). Measured maximum SPL is 129 dB at 1 metre using IEC noise.

Frequency range is 55 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB, with a constant directivity horn giving 90 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical coverage. The crossover is FIR-X Tuning, a linear phase FIR filter, at 2.1 kHz.

The mixer built into the back

Two inputs are fitted. Input 1 is a combo socket switchable between line and microphone level, so a microphone plugs straight into the speaker with no mixer at all. Input 2 is a second combo socket plus a pair of unbalanced RCA inputs for a music source. An XLR output passes channel 1 through, or sends a mix of both channels, to a second speaker.

That layout is what makes a pair of DBR10s a complete small system: a microphone in one, a phone in the other, and a link cable between them.

Presets and protection

D-CONTOUR offers FOH/MAIN and MONITOR presets, each tuned for the way the box is being used, plus off. A switchable high pass filter at 100 Hz or 120 Hz, 24 dB per octave, removes low end when a subwoofer is doing that work.

Protection covers clip limiting, integral power protection, DC fault, thermal and over current. Cooling is a four speed fan.

Physical

The plastic enclosure measures 308 x 493 x 289 mm with rubber feet and weighs 10.5 kg, with a top handle, a 35 mm pole socket and a 50 degree floor monitor angle so it can be laid on its side as a wedge. For more output, the DBR12 reaches 131 dB and the DBR15 132 dB.
