Plywood, and why it matters here

The CHR series uses plywood enclosures with a polyurea coating rather than moulded plastic. Plywood is heavier, which is why the CHR10 weighs 13.7 kg against the plastic CBR12's 13.9 kg despite being the smaller box, and it is stiffer, which is what installers and rental companies buy it for.

The polyurea coating is the finish that survives being loaded in and out repeatedly.

The rotatable horn

Coverage is 90 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical, and the horn rotates. That matters when the box is flown or mounted on its side: rotating the horn keeps the wide axis horizontal across the audience instead of pointing it at the ceiling and the floor.

The crossover sits at 2.5 kHz. The 10 inch cone has a 2 inch voice coil on a ferrite magnet, and the compression driver has a 1.4 inch diaphragm on a 1 inch throat.

Ratings and connection

Nominal impedance is 8 ohms. Power ratings are 175 W noise, 350 W program and 700 W peak, with 93 dB SPL sensitivity at 1 W and 1 m, and a calculated peak of 122 dB SPL. Frequency range is 55 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB.

Two parallel speakON NL4MP connectors allow a second cabinet to be linked from the first. The enclosure is 305 x 494 x 300 mm with a 35 mm pole socket in the bottom.
