TerraMaster D5 Thunderbolt 3 Raid Hard Drive

The TerraMaster D5 Thunderbolt 3 is a 5-bay RAID enclosure for 3.5 and 2.5 inch drives, reading at up to 1035 MB/s and writing at up to 850 MB/s in RAID 0, with daisy chaining and a 4K DisplayPort output.

Five bays, and the RAID choice

The D5 supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10, JBOD and single disk. With five drives, RAID 5 keeps most of the capacity while surviving the failure of any one drive, which is the sensible choice for a working project archive. RAID 0 reaches the full 1035 MB/s read speed, with no protection if a drive fails.

The enclosure ships without drives.

Connection

Thunderbolt 3 allows daisy chaining with up to six compatible devices, and a DisplayPort output drives an external 4K monitor, so the D5 can sit between the computer and the screen.

Size and cooling

The enclosure measures 227 mm high, 225 mm wide and 176 mm deep, with temperature controlled fans. For more capacity and speed, the D8 holds eight drives and reads at up to 1600 MB/s.
