The Tannoy GOLD 8 is a 300-Watt bi-amplified nearfield monitor with an 8 inch Dual Concentric driver and a 1 inch horn loaded tweeter at its centre, covering 54 Hz to 20 kHz and reaching 110 dB.
The largest GOLD
The 8 inch driver takes the low end to 54 Hz, the deepest in the GOLD range, against 65 Hz on the GOLD 7 and 70 Hz on the GOLD 5. That extra reach covers most bass lines and kick drums without a subwoofer, which is the reason to choose the GOLD 8.
Dual Concentric point source
The tweeter sits in the centre of the woofer, so all frequencies leave from one point. That keeps the stereo image and the tonal balance consistent as the listener moves, a real advantage for a monitor this size used close up.
Bi-amplification totals 300 W, and maximum SPL is 110 dB.

Each monitor measures 429 x 274 x 336 mm and weighs 14 kg, so it needs stands and a room large enough for an 8 inch driver to work in without overloading the bass.
