Description
The Tannoy GOLD 7 is a 300-Watt bi-amplified nearfield monitor with a 6.5 inch Dual Concentric driver and a 1 inch horn loaded tweeter at its centre, measuring 65 Hz to 20 kHz at -3 dB and reaching 110 dB.
One point source
The tweeter is mounted in the centre of the 6.5 inch cone, so the whole frequency range leaves the monitor from a single point. The stereo image and tonal balance hold steady as the listener leans or moves, which a monitor with separate drivers cannot do at close range.
What the extra size adds over the GOLD 5
Power rises from 200 W to 300 W of Class AB bi-amplification, and maximum SPL from 107 dB to 110 dB. The low end reaches 65 Hz at -3 dB and extends to 46 Hz at -10 dB, against 70 Hz on the GOLD 5.
Size
Each monitor measures 35.7 cm high, 22.1 cm wide and 28.8 cm deep, and weighs 9.4 kg. The GOLD 8 uses an 8 inch driver with the same 300 W and reaches 54 Hz.
