Steinberg UR28M USB Audio Interface

The Steinberg UR28M is a 24-bit, 96 kHz USB 2.0 audio interface with two D-PRE Class-A microphone preamps, six balanced outputs, S/PDIF, DSP monitoring with REV-X reverb and a built-in monitor controller with DIM, Mono and Mute.

Interface and monitor controller in one

The UR28M carries the controls most small studios buy a separate box for. Monitor level is digitally controlled, with DIM, Mono and Mute buttons, fed through a 3 x 3 monitoring matrix that switches between up to three sets of speakers. Two independent headphone buses give a performer and an engineer different mixes.

Inputs and outputs

Two Neutrik combination inputs use D-PRE Class-A discrete microphone preamps with 48 V phantom power. Two balanced TRS line inputs, six balanced TRS outputs and coaxial S/PDIF in and out complete the set. A 1/8 inch stereo input connects a phone or player as a reference track to compare against the mix.

DSP monitoring

dspMixFx runs one REV-X reverb and four Channel Strips inside the interface with no latency, in any DAW. REV-X offers Hall, Room and Plate types with time and level control, so a singer hears reverb while recording without it being printed to the track.
