Description
The SSL UC1 Rackmount Kit is the bracket set that mounts a UC1 plug-in control surface into a 19 inch rack instead of leaving it on the desk.
Why rack a control surface
The UC1 is 300 x 266 x 61 mm and weighs 2.1 kg, which is a meaningful amount of desk taken by a unit whose controls are reached rather than watched. In a studio where the desk surface is already carrying a keyboard, a controller and monitors, moving the UC1 into a rack at arm height frees that space while keeping the knobs in reach.
It also fixes the unit in position. A control surface that slides when a knob is turned is a control surface that gets used less.
What this is
This is mounting hardware, not an audio product. It contains the brackets and fixings to hold the UC1 in a standard 19 inch rack. The UC1 itself is sold separately.
Confirm you have rack space at a height where the surface can still be operated comfortably. A control surface mounted low in a rack is technically installed and practically useless.
