Solid State Logic UC1 Hardware Plug-In Control Surface

The SSL UC1 is a hardware control surface for SSL's 360-enabled plug-ins, with knob-per-function EQ and dynamics controls, a full Bus Compressor centre section and a moving-coil gain reduction meter. It is 300 x 266 x 61 mm and weighs 2.1 kg.

Knob per function, which is the point

A channel strip plug-in has thirty or more parameters. On screen they are reached one at a time with a mouse. On the UC1 each has its own physical control, so EQ and dynamics are adjusted the way they are on a console: several at once, by feel, without looking away from what you are listening to.

The centre section carries full Bus Compressor controls with an authentic moving-coil gain reduction meter, which reads faster and more honestly than an on-screen meter.

What it controls

Native SSL 360-enabled plug-ins: 4K B, 4K E, 4K G, Channel Strip 2, Bus Compressor 2 and 32Classic. Through 360 Link and 360 Link Bus Compressor it also controls any third party plug-in, which keeps the surface useful outside the SSL ecosystem.

The display shows which channel strip and Bus Compressor the UC1 is focused on and gives a value readout of whatever control is being moved.

Licences included

Licences for 4K B, Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 are included, along with 360 Link and 360 Link Bus Compressor, which are licence free, and a six month trial of the Complete Access subscription.

Connection is Hi-Speed USB. For rack mounting, the UC1 Rackmount Kit is available separately.
