Solid State Logic SSL 1 USB-C Audio Interface

The SSL 1 is a single channel USB-C interface with 32 bit converters at 192 kHz, a 63 dB microphone preamp measuring -130.5 dBu EIN and 113 dB dynamic range, a high pass filter, Legacy 4K and three stereo loopback channels.

One input, properly specified

A single Neutrik XLR microphone input and one switchable instrument or line input. The preamp gives 63 dB of gain with equivalent input noise of -130.5 dBu A-weighted and 113 dB of dynamic range, and there is a high pass filter on the microphone input for rumble and proximity build up.

The instrument input measures 114 dB dynamic range with a maximum level of +14 dBu; the line input also measures 114 dB, taking up to +24.5 dBu.

Loopback for streaming

Three stereo loopback channels are provided. Loopback routes computer audio back into the recording path, which is what a streamer or podcaster needs to capture a remote guest, a game, or music alongside their own microphone.

Three stereo channels rather than one means those sources can be kept separate rather than summed, so a guest and a music bed arrive on different tracks.

Outputs and conversion

Two balanced outputs measure 116 dB dynamic range at up to +14 dBu, and the high current headphone output also measures 116 dB A-weighted at up to +11 dBu. Converters are 32 bit running at 192 kHz.

The Legacy 4K circuit is included, adding the harmonic character of SSL's 4000 series consoles on the way in. The SSL Production Pack software bundle is supplied, with titles from Harrison Audio, Antares, Loopcloud, Native Instruments, AAS, IK Multimedia and Ableton.
