Description
The Sennheiser AMBEO Sub is the wireless subwoofer made to partner the AMBEO Soundbar Plus, with an 8 inch woofer driven by a 350 W Class-D amplifier, in a cabinet of roughly 27.4 x 36.9 x 27.4 cm.
What it adds to the soundbar
The AMBEO Soundbar Plus already carries dual 4 inch subwoofers inside its cabinet, and for most rooms that is enough. The AMBEO Sub exists for the case where it is not: a large room, a room open to another space, or a listener who wants the low end felt rather than heard.
An 8 inch driver moves considerably more air than two 4 inch drivers in a soundbar chassis can, and the 350 W Class-D amplifier is there to control it.
Wireless placement
The connection to the soundbar is wireless, which matters more for a subwoofer than for any other speaker. Low frequency response in a room depends heavily on where the source sits relative to the walls, and a wireless sub can be moved to the position that measures best rather than the position the cable reaches.

Buying it with or after the soundbar
The AMBEO Soundbar Plus works fully on its own, so the subwoofer can be added later once the room is known. It is designed to integrate with the soundbar's AMBEO virtualisation rather than to be set up as an independent speaker.
