The Samson SR550 is a closed back studio headphone with 40 mm dynamic drivers, covering 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 32 ohms with 110 dB sensitivity.

The closed ear cups keep sound in and outside noise out. That is what matters while recording: a click track or backing mix stays in the headphones instead of leaking into the vocal microphone, and the performer hears themselves clearly in a noisy room.

Easy to drive

Sensitivity is 110 dB at 1 mW, plus or minus 3 dB, and impedance is 32 ohms, plus or minus 10 percent. Together those mean the SR550 reaches a loud level from a phone, laptop or interface headphone output with very little power.

Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz from 40 mm dynamic drivers.

Where it fits

Use the SR550 for tracking and monitoring. For mixing, where a wider stereo image helps more than isolation, the semi-open Samson SR850C with 50 mm drivers is the better choice.
