RME M-32 AD Pro II AVB + MADI 32-Channel A/D Converter

The RME M-32 AD Pro II converts 32 analog inputs to MADI and AVB in one rack unit, with redundant power and a 120.7 dBA signal to noise figure. It is the input half of a 32 channel network node.

Thirty two inputs on D-sub

The 32 analog inputs arrive on 25 pin D-sub connectors, eight channels per connector, which is how a 32 channel converter fits in one rack unit. Maximum level is switchable per channel at +24, +19 or +13 dBu at 0 dBFS, so a hot broadcast feed and a nominal studio feed can share the same box.

Signal to noise is 120.7 dBA at +24 dBu, with THD+N below -108 dB at -1 dBFS. Sample rates reach 192 kHz.

AVB and MADI on the same unit

Two 1 GigE AVB ports carry four streams supporting 4, 8, 12 or 16 channels each. MADI is available on coaxial and, with the optional SFP module, on optical, up to 128 channels in total. Word clock is on BNC.

Both transports run at once, so the converter can feed a MADI console and an AVB network from the same 32 inputs without a second box.

Redundancy and control

Two monitored, fully redundant internal power supplies are fitted, which is the reason this converter appears in installations rather than only in studios. A 2 inch display with a control knob covers the front panel, and remote control runs over HTTP with a JSON API.

Which M-32 to order

Four variants exist and they differ in two ways only. AD converts analog to digital, DA converts digital to analog. The plain Pro II speaks AVB on its network ports; the Pro II-D speaks Dante with up to 64 channels over two fully redundant ports. Match the direction to the signal flow and the suffix to the network already installed.
