The Prism Sound Lyra 2 is a 2x4 USB audio interface with two microphone preamps, two instrument inputs, four analog outputs, AES3, S/PDIF and ADAT digital I/O, measuring 118 dB(A) dynamic range on the inputs.

Mastering grade conversion in a compact box

Prism Sound builds converters for mastering studios, and the Lyra 2 brings that conversion to a two input interface. The analog line input to digital output measures 118 dB(A) dynamic range to AES17, and the digital to analog path measures 116 dB(A). Those figures are what matter when a recording has to survive heavy processing later.

Inputs and outputs

Two analog inputs with microphone preamps and two instrument inputs, four analog outputs, and a stereo headphone output. The Lyra 1 has a single preamp and instrument input; the Lyra 2 doubles both.

Digital connections

Digital I/O runs as stereo AES3 or S/PDIF, or up to eight channels over ADAT optical. That lets the Lyra 2 connect to a digital mixer, an external preamp or a mastering chain without converting back to analog.
