Motu Stage B16 - 16-Channel Stage Box and Audio Interface

The MOTU Stage B16 is a 16-channel stage box and audio interface with 16 XLR microphone preamps offering up to 63 dB of gain, 8 XLR line outputs, a 48 input digital mixer with DSP effects, and AVB and USB connection. It weighs 2.27 kg.

A stage box that is also a mixer

The 16 microphone preamps sit on the stage end, so microphone cables stay short and only one network or USB cable runs back to front of house. Inside, a 48 input digital mixer modelled on large format consoles provides 12 stereo buses, with reverb, 4-band EQ, gate and compression processed at 32-bit floating point.

Control is from a web app over Wi-Fi once a router is connected, so the mix can be adjusted from anywhere in the room.

Converters

Preamp gain is digitally controlled from 0 to +63 dB, and the microphone inputs measure 117 dB dynamic range, A-weighted. The 8 XLR line outputs measure 123 dB and reach +20 dBu, adjustable from -4 to +20. Two AES/EBU outputs on XLR carry 4 channels at up to 96 kHz, and a 1/4 inch headphone output handles monitoring.

Sample rates run from 44.1 to 192 kHz.

Connection and size

One RJ45 AVB/TSN Ethernet port connects to a computer or other MOTU AVB devices, and USB 2.0 is audio class compliant and works with iOS. Expansion to further MOTU interfaces goes through a MOTU AVB Switch.

The unit is 19 x 7 x 3.5 inches and weighs 2.27 kg.
