Moog Sound Studio: DFAM & Subharmonicon Synthesizer

The Moog Sound Studio DFAM and Subharmonicon bundle pairs Moog's semi-modular analog percussion synthesizer with its polyrhythmic synthesizer, in a 2-tier rack with a 4-channel summing mixer, patch cables and learning material.

Rhythm on both sides

DFAM, Drummer From Another Mother, is an analog percussion voice: two oscillators, noise and an 8 step sequencer with one track normalled to pitch and one to velocity. Subharmonicon is a polyrhythmic synthesizer: two oscillators, each with two sub oscillators tunable to divisions from 1/1 to 1/16, a Moog low pass filter, and clock dividers that create rhythms which drift in and out of phase.

The pairing suits percussive, generative and rhythm-led music. There is no keyboard-style melodic voice here; the Mother-32 and DFAM bundle is the one for that.

Patching between them

Both instruments make sound with no cables connected. Patch points override the internal wiring: DFAM has 24 and Subharmonicon has 32. Patching one clock into the other is the obvious first move, and it locks the two sequencers together or sets them against each other.
