Manley Labs Force 4-Channel Vacuum Tube Microphone Preamplifier

The Manley FORCE is a 4-channel vacuum tube microphone preamplifier with 40 or 50 dB of switchable gain per channel, a Hi-Z instrument input on every channel, and a 120 Hz high pass filter and phase reverse on each.

Four tube channels in 2U

Each channel runs on a 12AX7WA dual triode, four in total. Gain switches between 40 and 50 dB, and an internal jumper makes 60 dB available for low output microphones such as ribbons.

Four channels covers a drum kit's close microphones, a stereo pair plus two spot microphones, or a small ensemble, all through the same tube character.

Per-channel controls

Every channel has a continuously variable input attenuator that doubles as a precision pad, a phase reverse switch, and a 120 Hz high pass filter. The variable attenuator is more useful than a fixed pad, because it sets exactly how hard a loud source drives the tube.

Each channel also has a 1/4 inch Hi-Z input for guitar, bass or keyboard.

Outputs and size

Outputs are balanced, with a 50 ohm output impedance, low enough to drive long cable runs to a converter or interface.

The unit is 2U, 19 x 3.5 x 7 inches, and weighs 8.6 lbs.
