M-Audio BX4 Bluetooth Monitors

The M-Audio BX4 BT is the Bluetooth version of the BX4 monitor pair: 4.5 inch Kevlar woofers, 1 inch silk dome tweeters, 120 W total peak, and Bluetooth 5.0 with about 100 feet of range alongside the wired inputs.

Wireless without giving up the wired inputs

Bluetooth 5.0 is added rather than substituted. The RCA stereo pair, the two 1/4 inch TRS inputs and the 1/8 inch stereo auxiliary input are all still there, so an audio interface stays wired for work while a phone or a laptop connects wirelessly for everything else. Quoted range is around 100 feet.

That combination is the reason to choose this over the plain BX4: one pair of speakers covers monitoring and casual listening without repatching.

Drivers and response

The woofer is 4.5 inch Kevlar and the tweeter is a 1 inch silk dome in a computer engineered waveguide that widens the sweet spot and reduces high frequency scatter. Power is 120 W peak total, 25 W RMS per speaker, and frequency response runs 69 Hz to 22 kHz. A rear mounted bass port extends the low end.

Controls and size

Volume plus high and low end controls sit on the speaker. Each cabinet measures 6.1 x 6.9 x 8.9 inches and weighs 9.83 lbs, and the monitors are sold as a pair.
