M-Audio AIR 192x6 Desktop 2x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface

Two channels at once, four ways in

Two XLR and 1/4 inch balanced combo inputs handle microphones and line sources, and two separate 1/4 inch instrument inputs take guitars and basses directly. Two channels record simultaneously, so a vocal and a guitar, or two microphones, go down together.

The Crystal preamps and A/D converters run 24 bit at 192 kHz, which is the specification that separates the AIR range from the 48 kHz M-Track Solo.

Latency and monitoring

Round trip latency is quoted at 2.59 ms. Beyond that, a monitor mix control lets the performer hear the input directly rather than through the computer, so a singer is not fighting a delayed headphone feed while tracking.

Stereo 1/4 inch outputs feed monitors, and the 1/4 inch headphone output has its own level control.

Connections and what is in the box

USB-C connects the interface, and both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables are supplied, so it works with a current laptop or an older one without a separate purchase. Full size 5 pin MIDI input and output are fitted for hardware synths and controllers.

The interface is 20.42 x 15.24 x 7.0 cm and weighs 0.95 kg. Software includes Ableton Live Lite, MPC Beats, the AIR Creative FX Collection, 80 AIR effect plugins, ReValver, Mini Grand, Xpand!2, TubeSynth, Electric, Bassline and 2 GB of Touch Loops samples.
