Lewitt LCT 140 AIR Condenser Microphone (Pair)

The Lewitt LCT 140 AIR stereo pair supplies two matched small diaphragm cardioid condensers, each with a 17 mm capsule, AIR and FLAT sound modes, a -12 dB pad and an 80 Hz low cut.

Why a matched pair

Stereo recording depends on both microphones behaving identically. If one is brighter or more sensitive than the other, the stereo image leans to one side. A matched pair is selected so the two measure alike, which matters for drum overheads, piano, acoustic guitar in stereo, choirs and room ambience.

Both microphones have the same switches, so set both identically before recording.

Each microphone

Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Sensitivity is 14.6 mV/Pa, self noise is 20 dB(A), and maximum SPL is 135 dB at 0.5 percent THD, a dynamic range of 115 dB(A). Output impedance is 173 ohms.

The AIR mode lifts the top end, which suits cymbals and acoustic instruments. FLAT gives a neutral response. The -12 dB pad and the 80 Hz, 12 dB per octave low cut are on each body.

Size

Each microphone measures 24 mm across and 140 mm long and weighs 66 g, light enough for a stereo bar and a single stand.
