IK Multimedia iLoud Precision MTM 175W Dual 5" Studio Monitor

The IK Multimedia iLoud Precision MTM places two 130 mm bass and midrange drivers above and below a 38 mm textile dome tweeter, powered by 145 W for the woofers and 30 W for the tweeter, 175W (175 W) in total.

Why the woofer, tweeter, woofer layout

MTM stands for mid, tweeter, mid. Putting the tweeter between two identical drivers makes the monitor behave as if all its sound comes from the tweeter's position, and it narrows the vertical spread. Less sound goes up to the ceiling and down to the desk, so fewer early reflections reach the ears. The monitor can also be laid horizontally without the image shifting.

The DSP inside

The DSP runs at 96 kHz. The crossover is eighth order, 48 dB per octave, at 1900 Hz, which is steep enough that each driver stays in its own range. Wide-band time domain correction keeps the phase response within plus or minus 20 degrees from 150 Hz upward, so transients arrive together rather than smeared.

IK's ARC 3 room calibration is integrated through the X-Monitor app, with a dedicated input for the MEMS measuring microphone.

Connections

Input is a balanced XLR and TRS combination socket. The MTM is analog input only, with no digital input. A 3.5 mm jack takes the optional wired remote control.

For a smaller setup, the Precision 5 and Precision 6 use a single woofer at 135 W and 150 W RMS.
