The IK Multimedia iLoud Precision 5 is a 2-way active monitor with a 5 inch ultralight coated paper mid-woofer and a 1.5 inch chambered textile dome tweeter, driven by 135 W RMS of Class D power, covering 46 Hz to 30 kHz and reaching 113.3 dB peak at 1 metre.
Room calibration is built in
The Precision range corrects itself to the room. A measuring microphone and IK's ARC system take readings at the listening position, and the monitor's DSP adjusts its own response to compensate for what the room is doing to the bass. The X-Monitor software handles the process.
That matters more on a small monitor than a large one, because small monitors usually end up in small untreated rooms, which is exactly where uncorrected bass is least trustworthy.
Response and output
Frequency response runs from 46 Hz to 30 kHz. Peak SPL is 113.3 dB in free field at 1 metre. For a 5 inch monitor both numbers are strong, and the DSP is what makes them achievable from a cabinet this size.
Where it fits in the range
The iLoud Precision 6 moves to a 6.5 inch woofer and 150 W RMS for more low end, and the Precision MTM uses two 5 inch drivers either side of the tweeter at 175 W. Choose the Precision 5 for a desk or a small room.
