Hawk SXSG010 TRS Male to XLR Male Cable - 3 Meter

The Hawk SXSG010 is a 3 metre Gold Series balanced cable with a 1/4 inch TRS male plug at one end and an XLR male at the other, built on oxygen-free copper conductors with a spiral shield, 6 mm across at 24 AWG.

What this cable is for

It connects a balanced 1/4 inch TRS output to an XLR input. The usual case is an audio interface with jack outputs driving studio monitors with XLR inputs, and it also suits a mixer or keyboard output going into a powered speaker.

Balanced matters here. A TRS to XLR cable carries the signal on two conductors plus a shield, so interference picked up along the run is cancelled at the input. It only works if both ends are genuinely balanced; check that the output is TRS balanced, not an unbalanced TS jack.

Construction

The conductors are oxygen-free copper. The shield is a spiral of oxygen-free copper, which rejects electromagnetic and radio frequency interference while keeping the cable flexible enough to coil without kinking. The cable is 6 mm in outer diameter at 24 AWG.

A cable tie comes in the pack. Hawk covers the cable with a one year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Choosing the length

At 3 metres this suits monitors on stands a short distance from the desk. The same cable comes as the 1.5 metre SXSG005 for monitors on the desk and the 5 metre SXSG016 for longer runs. Buy the shortest length that reaches without strain.
