Hawk HTM-SG 1/4″ TS Male Connector (Pair) (Gold Tip)

The Hawk HTM-SG is a pair of 1/4 inch TS male jack plugs with gold plated tips and all-metal housings, made for soldering onto cable to build or repair mono instrument leads.

TS means mono and unbalanced

TS is tip and sleeve: one signal conductor plus the shield. That is the right plug for electric guitars, basses, most keyboards, pedals and amplifier inputs, all of which are mono and unbalanced.

It is the wrong plug for a balanced line. A TS plug inserted into a balanced output drops the signal to unbalanced, and the noise rejection is lost. For balanced cables, use the TRS plug in the same range, the Hawk HSTM series.

Construction

The tip is gold plated, which resists corrosion and keeps contact resistance low over years of plugging in. The housing is all metal and protects the soldered joints inside from the strain of repeated use.

Termination is by solder, which makes a permanent joint and lets you cut a cable to exactly the length you need.
