Gemini DJX-500 Professional DJ Headphone

The Gemini DJX-500 is a closed-back DJ headphone built around 57 mm dynamic drivers, the largest in the DJX range. It is made for cueing in a loud booth, where you need to hear the next track over the room rather than beside it.

Built for the booth, not the desk

Closed-back earcups on 32 ohm drivers reach 107 dB, so a laptop, a controller headphone output or a mixer cue bus drives the DJX-500 to working volume without a separate amplifier. The 57 mm driver is what carries low end at that volume: the response runs from 5 Hz to 30 kHz, and distortion stays under 0.1 percent.

The earcups turn 90 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees vertically, which is the movement you need for one-ear monitoring through a set. The headphone weighs 300 g.

What it connects to

The 5 ft cable terminates in a 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) plug and ships with a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) screw adapter, so it fits both a controller and a mixer front panel without an extra part. Copper voice coils and NdFeB magnets do the driving.

DJX-500 or DJX-1000

Both reach 107 dB across 5 Hz to 30 kHz. The DJX-500 sits at 32 ohms with a 57 mm driver and is the one to take to a gig, because it plays loud off whatever is in front of you. The DJX-1000 is 80 ohms on a 53 mm driver and suits a studio position where a proper headphone output is available.
