Focal Twin6 Be 6.5 inch 2.5-Way Powered Studio Monitor

The Focal Twin6 Be is a 2.5-way monitor with two 6.5 inch W-cone drivers and a 1.5 inch beryllium inverted dome tweeter, covering 40 Hz to 40 kHz at 115 dB SPL, with 2 x 150 W RMS BASH amplification for the bass and midrange and 100 W for the treble.

What 2.5-way means here

Two 6.5 inch drivers are fitted but they do not do the same job. One reproduces bass and midrange, the other handles bass only. That is what the half in 2.5-way refers to, and it is why the midrange stays clean while two drivers share the low frequency work.

The tweeter is a 1.5 inch beryllium inverted dome, larger than the 1 inch fitted to the Trio6 Be, and it crosses over lower as a result.

Focus mode

Focus mode reduces the monitor to a single channel covering 110 Hz to 10 kHz, which is a deliberately restricted midrange view for checking how a mix translates to small speakers. The full response is 40 Hz to 40 kHz at plus or minus 3 dB.

Maximum SPL is 115 dB. Amplification is 2 x 150 W RMS using BASH technology for bass and midrange, plus 100 W RMS for the treble.

Be or the current Twin6

This is the beryllium version with the 1.5 inch tweeter and 2 x 150 W of bass and midrange amplification. The current Twin6 in the range uses a 1 inch beryllium inverted dome with 2 x 70 W Class G and 50 W Class AB, reaching 112 dB, and weighs 22 kg.

Both are 2.5-way with dual 6.5 inch W membrane drivers and both have Focus mode. The Be is the higher powered of the two.
