Eve Audio SC4070 4-Way Dual 6.5 inch Active Midfield and Main Monitor

The EVE Audio SC4070 is a four way active monitor for midfield and main monitoring, with two 6.5 inch SilverCone woofers, a 4 inch midrange and the AMT RS3.1 tweeter, driven by four 250 W Class-D amplifiers for 1000 W total. It covers 32 Hz to 25 kHz and weighs 18 kg.

Four ways, and a rotating baffle section

Two 6.5 inch SilverCone woofers handle the bottom, a dedicated 4 inch midrange covers the range where voices and most instruments live, and the AMT RS3.1 Air Motion Transformer takes the top. Crossover points are 280 Hz and 3000 Hz.

The tweeter and midrange driver rotate within the housing, so the monitor can be used upright or on its side with the drivers still correctly oriented. On a midfield monitor that has to sit on a meter bridge or a soffit, that is a genuinely practical feature rather than a specification.

Why a dedicated midrange matters

In a two way monitor, one driver covers everything from the bass through the vocal range up to the crossover. That driver is sized for bass, and it is doing the midrange as a secondary job. A four way design gives the midrange its own driver, sized for it, which is the single biggest reason larger monitors resolve vocals and dense mixes better.

Four separate 250 W Class-D amplifiers drive the four sections, 1000 W in total.

Output and placement

Frequency range is 32 Hz to 25 kHz with a maximum SPL of 116 dB per pair. The cabinet is 600 x 260 x 320 mm and weighs 18 kg, so this is a stand, soffit or meter bridge monitor rather than a desktop one.

For nearfield work the SC205 and SC204 cover the same house sound in a far smaller cabinet.
