Eve Audio SC 203 2-WAY-3" Master-Slave Desktop Set (Pair)

The EVE Audio SC203 is a desktop monitor set sold as a pair, built around a 3 inch driver and a micro AMT tweeter per cabinet, with four 30 W Class-D amplifiers, a 62 Hz to 21 kHz range and 94 dB maximum SPL at 1 metre. Each cabinet is 116 x 190 x 134 mm.

Master and slave, not two identical speakers

The set works as a master and slave pair. One cabinet carries the controls and the input connections, and the second is fed from it over a cable. That is why the SC203 is sold as a set rather than as single monitors: buying one gets you half a system.

For a desk, that arrangement is an advantage. All the connections and the volume control sit on one side, within reach, rather than being split across two cabinets.

The AMT tweeter

EVE uses an Air Motion Transformer rather than a dome tweeter. The diaphragm is hand folded and thinly coated with aluminium, sitting in a magnetic field, and the folds squeeze air out rather than pushing it like a piston. The moving mass is very low, which is what gives an AMT its speed at the top end.

The SC203 uses the micro AMT version of that driver, crossed over at 4800 Hz to a 75 mm, 3 inch, low and mid driver.

What a 3 inch driver can do

Response reaches 62 Hz at -3 dB and maximum SPL is 94 dB at 1 metre. A rear passive radiator extends the low end beyond what the cabinet volume would otherwise allow.

That defines the honest use: a desk, close listening, editing, and production where the deep bass will be checked elsewhere. Four dedicated 30 W Class-D amplifiers drive the pair, with DSP handling the crossover, EQ and protection. For more level and extension, the SC204 reaches 64 Hz at 96 dB and the SC205 reaches 53 Hz at 101 dB.
