The EVE Audio EXO25 is a 2-way active monitor with a 5 inch coated aluminium woofer and the Precision AirMotion tweeter with Guided Directivity Control waveguide, 280 W of Class-D amplification, covering 44 Hz to 24 kHz at up to 110 dB SPL.
Extension and output against the EXO24
The 5 inch woofer takes bass extension from 54 Hz down to 44 Hz and maximum SPL from 102 dB to 110 dB. Ten hertz at the bottom of the range is a substantial gain: it is roughly the difference between hearing the fundamental of a bass guitar's lower notes and hearing only their harmonics.
Amplification stays at 280 W, as it does across the whole EXO series.
Guided Directivity Control
The Precision AirMotion tweeter sits in a GDC waveguide. A waveguide decides how sound spreads away from the axis, and its job is to make the off axis response resemble the on axis response. That matters because most of what you hear in a room is reflected sound, and reflections that differ in tone from the direct sound are what make a room sound wrong.
The woofer is coated aluminium, which is stiffer than a paper or polypropylene cone of the same mass.
Choosing within the series
For a small desk the EXO24 covers 54 Hz at 102 dB. For a larger room, the EXO27 reaches 41 Hz at 122 dB and the EXO28 reaches 37 Hz at 126 dB. The EXO25 is the middle option and the usual choice for a normal sized project studio.
