The Dynaudio LYD 7 is a 7" nearfield studio monitor with an MSP woofer and a 1.1 inch soft dome tweeter, each on a 50 W Class D amplifier, covering 55 Hz to 21 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB and reaching 109 dB for a pair.

DSP controls for the room

Three DSP controls adjust the LYD 7 to where it sits. Bass extension moves the low frequency limit by plus or minus 10 Hz. Position tuning compensates for placement either free standing or within 50 cm of a wall. Sound balance tilts the tonal balance brighter or darker. Together they let the monitor be set for the room rather than the room being fought.

Drivers and response

The 7 inch woofer uses Dynaudio's MSP cone, and the 1.1 inch soft dome tweeter crosses over at 4300 Hz in DSP. Each has a 50 W Class D amplifier. Response runs from 55 Hz to 21 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB at 85 dB, and a pair reaches 109 dB at 1 metre. The cabinet uses a rear bass reflex port.

Inputs and size

Inputs are XLR and RCA. The monitor measures 186 mm wide, 320 mm high and 296 mm deep, and weighs 8 kg. The LYD-5 is the smaller 5 inch model, and the LYD 48 is the 3-way design reaching 32 Hz.
