The Bowers & Wilkins Px8 007 Edition is the flagship Px8 in a James Bond themed finish. The audio specification is unchanged: 40 mm carbon cone drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive, six microphone noise cancelling and up to 30 hours of battery.
What is different, stated plainly
This edition differs from the standard Px8 in its finish and presentation rather than in how it sounds. The drivers, the codec support, the noise cancelling system and the battery life are the same.
That is worth knowing before purchase. If the appeal is the finish and the collectability, this is the model. If the appeal is purely the sound, the standard Px8 delivers it for less.
The audio platform underneath
Bespoke 40 mm carbon cone dynamic drivers, angled within each earcup. Carbon is used because a stiff cone stays rigid at high excursion instead of flexing and adding distortion.
Bluetooth 5.2 carries SBC, AAC, aptX Adaptive and aptX HD, handling 24 bit high resolution audio from a compatible source. Noise cancelling uses six microphones with digital signal processing, and rated battery life is up to 30 hours.
The other special edition
A McLaren Edition of the Px8 is also listed, again differing in finish and materials rather than in audio specification. Both sit alongside the standard Px8 in the range.
