Audix MICRODTRIO Set Of Three Microd Microphones

The Audix MicroD Trio is three MicroD miniature condenser microphones supplied together, which is the count a standard kit needs for two rack toms and a floor tom.

Why three

A five piece kit has three toms. Buying the microphones individually means three orders and three prices; the Trio is the set that matches the kit. Each microphone is a full MicroD with its own flexible gooseneck, aluminium ring, rubber shock mount and DVICEMICRO rim mount, so all three clip straight to the rims with no stands anywhere near the drummer.

Removing three boom stands from around a kit is not a cosmetic gain. It is three fewer things to knock during a set and three fewer stands to load out.

What each microphone does

Each capsule is a pre-polarised condenser with a hypercardioid pattern, covering 40 Hz to 20 kHz at 5.6 mV/Pa into 250 ohms. Equivalent noise level is 24 dB and signal to noise is 70 dB. Maximum SPL is 140 dB or greater. Phantom power is 9 to 52 V per microphone, so a small mixer with three phantom channels will run the set.

The tight pattern is what keeps a tom microphone hearing its own tom instead of the cymbal above it.

Where it fits

Use the Trio on toms and add a kick microphone and a snare microphone separately, or add it to an existing kit of microphones that is short on tom channels. For a complete package instead, the Audix DP5A and DP7 kits arrive with kick, snare and tom microphones already matched.
