Audix FP5 Fusion Series Drum Microphone Package

The Audix FP5 is a five microphone Fusion Series drum package: the f6 for kick, the f5 for snare and three f2 for toms, with clips, pivot mounts, a stand adapter and an aluminium case.

Fusion Series, and where it sits

The Fusion Series is Audix's more affordable drum line, and the FP5 is its five microphone kit. The f6 has extended bass response and is designed for kick drum, bass cabinets and cajon. The f5 is tuned for snare and also works on bongos, timbales, guitar cabinets and acoustic instruments. The three f2 dynamics cover rack and floor toms, and suit congas, djembe, bongos, timbales, brass and woodwind besides.

Three tom microphones rather than two is worth noting: the FP5 covers a three tom kit without a separate purchase.

Hardware in the box

Four microphone clips, four pivot mounts and one microphone stand adapter are included, in an aluminium carrying case. The pivot mounts are what let the tom microphones be angled into position once clipped.

FP5 or FP7

The FP7 is this package plus two f9 condenser microphones for cymbals and hi-hat. If the kit will be reinforced in a room where the cymbals already carry, the FP5 is enough. If the cymbals need to be in the mix deliberately, the FP7 adds the pair that does it.
