Audix DP5A - Complete Drum Microphone Package

The Audix DP5A is a five microphone drum package: the D6 for kick, the i5 for snare, two D2 for rack toms and a D4 for floor tom, with rim clips and a foam lined aluminium case.

Five microphones, matched to five positions

Each microphone in the DP5A is chosen for the drum it sits on rather than being five of the same capsule. The D6 is Audix's kick microphone. The i5 handles snare. The two D2 microphones take the rack toms and the D4, with its lower reach, takes the floor tom.

That matters because a floor tom and a rack tom are not the same instrument. Sending both through identical microphones means fixing the difference with EQ afterwards.

Mounting

Four D-Vice rim mount clips are included, one for each microphone except the D6. The rim clips put the tom and snare microphones on the drums themselves, which removes four boom stands from around the kit. The D6 comes with a heavy duty snap to fit nylon clip for a stand inside the kick drum.

Case and use

Everything is packed in a foam lined aluminium carrying case, which is what makes the DP5A a working kit for live use rather than a box of loose microphones. The package covers a five piece kit with no overheads. If cymbals need their own channels, the DP7 adds a pair of ADX51 condensers for overheads.
