Audix DP-ELITE 8 - Drum Microphone Package

The Audix DP Elite 8 is an eight microphone package for a five piece kit: D6 kick, i5 snare, two D2 rack toms, D4 floor tom, a pair of SCX1-C condensers for overheads and an SCX1-HC for hi-hat.

The hi-hat gets its own microphone

What separates the DP Elite 8 from the seven microphone DP7 is the SCX1-HC, a hypercardioid condenser dedicated to hi-hat. On a kit where the hi-hat work is part of the arrangement rather than timekeeping, giving it a channel means it can be balanced against the snare instead of arriving through whichever overhead happens to be nearest.

The overhead pair here is the SCX1-C, a cardioid condenser, rather than the ADX51 used in the DP7.

The close microphones

The kick, snare and toms follow the same logic as the rest of the Audix drum range: the D6 on kick, the i5 on snare, two D2 on rack toms and the D4, with its lower reach, on floor tom. Each is chosen for the drum rather than repeated across the kit.

Mounting and case

Four DVICE rim mount clips cover the snare and tom microphones, and three heavy duty tension fit clips cover the SCX1 condensers. Everything packs into a foam lined aluminium carrying case. This is the largest of the Audix drum packages and the one to specify when the kit is being recorded as well as reinforced.
