Arturia MiniLab 3 Compact MIDI Keyboard Controller

The Arturia MiniLab 3 is a 25 key slim controller with 8 encoders, 4 sliders, 16 pads across two banks and a small display, weighing 1 kg. It is built to be the only controller on a small desk.

Controls in a small footprint

Eight rotary encoders and four sliders cover parameter control and mixing. The pads are arranged as two banks of eight, velocity and pressure sensitive with RGB backlighting, which gives sixteen pads without the width sixteen physical pads would need.

A mini display with a clickable browsing knob gives feedback while tweaking, so a parameter change can be read rather than guessed at from a knob position.

What it connects to

USB-C connects to a computer or an iPad. A 5 pin DIN MIDI output drives external instruments, which is unusual at this size and is what lets the MiniLab 3 play a hardware synth with no interface in between. A control input takes a sustain pedal, an expression pedal or a footswitch.

DAW transport control uses the MCU protocol, with one DAW preset for automatic integration with major DAWs, and deeper integration with Arturia's own instruments.

Included software

Analog Lab Intro, Native Instruments Komplete 15 Select, a two month Loopcloud subscription, Ableton Live Lite, a Melodics trial and MIDI Control Center are supplied. That bundle is a large part of the value at this price.

The unit measures 356 x 219 x 54 mm and weighs 1 kg.
