Arturia DrumBrute Impact 1984 Analog Drum Machine (Limited-Edition White)

The Arturia DrumBrute Impact 1984 is the limited edition white finish of the DrumBrute Impact: ten fully analog drum voices, a 64 step sequencer holding 64 patterns, output distortion and four separate outputs, at 342 x 243 x 57 mm.

Ten analog voices

The sounds are Kick, Snare 1, Snare 2, Tom Hi, Tom Low, Cowbell, Cymbal, Closed Hat, Open Hat and an FM Sound. Every one is generated by analog circuitry rather than played back from a sample, which is why each has its own tweakable parameters rather than a single level control.

The Color function adds a second sound shaping character to every instrument except the Cowbell, so a kick or a snare has two dimensions of adjustment before any external processing.

Sequencer and performance

Sixty four patterns are stored, each up to 64 steps, and song mode chains them into a full arrangement. That is enough to run a live set from the machine itself.

Output distortion with a bypass switch sits on the master, which is the fastest route to the aggressive character the Impact is known for.

Getting sounds out separately

Four additional outputs send the Kick, the Snares, the Hi Hats or the FM Sound out on their own for separate processing or separate channels at the desk. On a machine with ten voices that is the practical minimum for treating the kick differently from everything else, and it is what makes the Impact usable in a studio rather than only as a stand-alone box.

The unit measures 342 x 243 x 57 mm and weighs about 1.8 kg. The 1984 edition differs from the standard DrumBrute Impact in finish only.
