Arturia AudioFuse X8 Out ADAT to 8-Channel Analog Output Expander

The Arturia AudioFuse X8 OUT turns an unused ADAT port into eight analog line outputs on TRS, with 120 dB of dynamic range, in a half rack 1U box.

Eight outputs from one optical cable

Interfaces are usually short of outputs before they are short of inputs. The X8 OUT takes the ADAT output that most interfaces already have and turns it into eight TRS line outputs rated at 120 dB dynamic range, which is enough for a multi-output monitoring rig, a set of outboard sends, or a surround or immersive layout.

One optical cable carries all eight channels, so the cabling between interface and expander stays a single run.

Sample rates and S/MUX

At 44.1 and 48 kHz all eight channels arrive on a single ADAT port. At 88.2 and 96 kHz the ADAT standard runs at half capacity, so the channels split across two ADAT ports using S/MUX. Word clock synchronisation is supported alongside ADAT and ADAT S/MUX.

That is the detail to check before ordering: an interface with only one ADAT output cannot feed all eight channels at 96 kHz.

The pair

The AudioFuse X8 IN is the matching input expander, adding eight analog inputs through AKM converters at 119 dB and -112 dB THD. Both are 1U half rack units with removable rack ears, so the two together occupy one full rack space.
