Description
The AKG Drum Set Session I is a seven microphone drum set: one P2 for kick, two P17 condensers for overheads and four P4 for snare and toms, with four H440 rim clamps, two stand mounts and an aluminium carrying case.
Seven microphones for a complete kit
The P2 handles the kick drum's low end. The four P4 microphones cover snare and up to three toms. The two P17 condensers sit above the kit as overheads to capture cymbals and the overall sound of the drums together.
That layout records or amplifies a standard five piece kit with every drum on its own channel.
Mounting
Four H440 rim clamps attach the P4 microphones directly to the drum rims, which removes four stands from around the kit and keeps each microphone at a fixed distance from its drum even when the drums are hit hard. Two stand mounts hold the overheads.
Storage
Everything packs into a durable aluminium case, which keeps the set together between gigs and protects the condenser overheads, the most delicate microphones in the kit.
