Description
The ADAM Audio Sub8 is an active studio subwoofer with an 8.5 inch woofer driven by a 160 Watts RMS ICEpower amplifier, covering 28 Hz to 150 Hz with a crossover adjustable from 50 to 150 Hz.
Built for small monitors
Small studio monitors stop producing useful output somewhere between 50 and 80 Hz. The Sub8 fills in below that, down to 28 Hz, so kick drums, sub bass and the bottom of a bass guitar can be heard and judged instead of guessed at.
Setting the crossover
The crossover adjusts from 50 to 150 Hz. Set it just above the point where the main monitors start to roll off, so the monitors and the subwoofer overlap cleanly rather than doubling up or leaving a gap.
Driver, amplifier and inputs
The 8.5 inch woofer uses a 1.5 inch voice coil and is driven by an ICEpower amplifier rated at 160 W RMS and 240 W music power. Connections are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA, so it fits between an interface and a pair of monitors either way.
