MOTU M2 vs Steinberg UR22C: Which Audio Interface to Buy in India

MOTU M2 and Steinberg UR22C audio interfaces on a studio desk

The MOTU M2 and the Steinberg UR22C are both 2-in 2-out USB-C audio interfaces for home recording, podcasts and streaming. They look similar on paper, so the choice comes down to metering, software bundle and how you work. This guide sets out what each one offers so you can pick before you order.

Quick answer

  • You want to see your levels at a glance and a bundle with a full DAW to start: the MOTU M2, with its colour LCD meter.
  • You use Cubase, or want Steinberg's software and its Plus content: the Steinberg UR22C, which comes with Cubase AI.

How to choose

Both interfaces cover the same jobs: one or two microphones, a guitar or keyboard, headphone monitoring, and recording what your computer plays. The practical differences are small and personal. The M2 shows input and output levels on a colour screen, which helps when you are setting gain on your own. The UR22C is the natural fit if you already work in Cubase, because the software that comes with it is Steinberg's own.

A note on the UR22C and the URX22C

Steinberg now sells a newer version of this interface, the URX22C. We list it too: see the Yamaha URX22C. If you want the current model rather than the one it replaces, compare the URX22C as well.

Yes. Both have loopback, so you can record or stream computer audio together with your microphone.

Are these genuine India stock with warranty?

Pro Audio Brands lists both with manufacturer warranty. See each product page for the current price and availability.
