Audix DP-Quad Drum Microphone Pack

The Audix DP Quad is a four microphone drum package: a D6 for kick, an i5 for snare, and two ADX51 condensers used as overheads. It is the smallest kit that still gives a full drum sound.

Four channels, whole kit

The two ADX51 condensers do most of the work. Placed as a left and right overhead pair, the left covers hi-hat, cymbals and rack toms while the right picks up the floor tom and ride. The D6 and the i5 then add the two elements that need their own channel on any stage, kick and snare.

This is the arrangement to reach for when the console has four spare channels rather than eight, or when a support act has a short changeover and there is no time to mount seven microphones.

Against the larger packages

The DP5A drops the overheads and gives every tom its own close microphone instead, which suits a loud stage where cymbal bleed into open overheads is a problem. The DP7 does both, seven microphones covering close toms and an overhead pair. The DP Quad trades individual tom control for speed and channel count.

Mounting and case

A D-Vice rim mount clip is included, and the package ships in a foam lined aluminium road case. Audix lists the package for live and studio settings alike.
